piccing.com continues its explosive growth! Social Commerce is finally taking off

The photo-sharing community piccing.com is continuing its explosive growth! The number of registered members has grown by 167% since January. This takes the community to more than 10.3 million members, who tag and recommend new trends on piccing every day. Piccing places products and brands based on the interests of individual users, which means they are perceived as valuable additional information. The matching function enables members to search pictures for specific products and to buy them from retail partners such as C&A, Armani, Shopbob.com, Zappos.com, Mango, New Balance and many more. These functions will soon be available in the piccing app too, which is to be launched shortly.

The piccing app enables users to tag products in their own and shared pictures while they are out and about and to receive similar product suggestions in the app too. “From now on, piccing is going for mobile first. With the launch of the piccing app we want to expand usability and give our members new tools for tracking down the latest trends”, says Dirk Spielmann, CEO of piccing.

More than 10.3 million members from all over the world are active users of piccing.com every day. After just 2 months over 15% of members use the matching tool “Picc it. Live it!”. This enables members to tag their favourite products in pictures and receive real-time suggestions for similar products. “We are very pleased by this rapid growth and by the fact that our members use piccing actively every day. We are recording more than 60,000 potential customers every day, who get further information and make purchases from our partners’ sites”, says Dirk Spielmann. At the moment 60% of members are interested in accessories, 30% in fashion and 10% are looking for gadgets. “Our aim with piccing is to discover new brands and products and to get suggestions from other like-minded people”, adds Spielmann.

piccing is a social media platform and interactive photo wall based in Palo Alto, Cape Town, Zurich and Berlin and founded in March 2011 by Dirk Spielmann (CEO) and Nikolaj Zethraeus (CFO). Users of the platform can upload, mark and share their favourite pictures and if they wish, buy the items shown from shopping partners. More than 15 million unique users visit piccing every month, mainly from the core markets of North America and Western Europe.
