Infraserv Höchst chooses FirstSpirit content management system for website relaunch

New e-Spirit customer goes online with kick-off project

Dortmund, July 18, 2012 – Infraserv GmbH & Co. Höchst KG, leading site operator and service provider in the chemical, pharmaceutical and process industry, has opted for e-Spirit’s content management system (CMS) FirstSpirit. The CMS will be the solution used for all the company’s internet and intranet sites. The neighborhood portal operated by Infraserv for the Höchst Industrial Park in Frankfurt am Main, one of the largest production and research sites in Europe, has been rebuilt using FirstSpirit. The full service internet agency „reality bytes“ in Cologne implemented the relaunch of http://www.ihr-nachbar.de and will support the further roll-out of the CMS at Infraserv Höchst. The relaunch of the corporate website infraserv.com was also implemented with reality bytes.

Quick and easy addressing of target groups

The neighborhood portal ihr-nachbar.de was launched in 2003 by Infraserv together with reality bytes, in order to inform residents, employees of firms based in the industrial park, media representatives and the interested public about the Höchst industrial park operated by the corporation. Open and transparent communication with these target groups was the focus of the site from the outset – and has not changed to this day. However, after nine years, the website and the CMS behind it no longer kept pace with the rapid development of technical options that has occurred or with the changed expectations of the website visitors and the company. Following the relaunch the site operator now offers its neighbors the portal with a completely new, modern look and feel, with improved usability, innovative design, updated content concept and a dedicated mobile channel. Infraserv has also set up a future-proof backend: By replacing the old system and introducing FirstSpirit, Infraserv now has a powerful CMS, which can be flexibly extended and also assures the company’s future ability to act decisively on the web. The solution convinced the decision makers in the IT and corporate communication department, among other things due to its user friendliness and particular integration capability. In the user-friendly editing interface of FirstSpirit, the online editors can now create and update content much more easily and deploy it far more quickly. IT or agency support is no longer required for the content maintenance. Among other things, intuitively comprehensible input masks, an integrated preview of the web page, in which changes are displayed immediately, and defined and automated release and deployment workflows simplify the editing processes. FirstSpirit will be set up as the central media management resource in the company – the „CorporateMedia“ module will ensure that multimedia content such as pictures, video or audio files are available across projects as well as in all sites rolled out in the future with FirstSpirit. This means the editors only have to create media once centrally and can use it not only for the target group-specific neighborhood portal but also at a later date for the group and subsidiary websites and the intranet. By avoiding redundant data storage, Infraserv not only reduces its editorial maintenance work but also the storage space required and improves the generation times of the linked web projects.

Safety and transparency come high on the list of priorities

Apart from information on events, training and further education options, sports offerings and environmental topics on the site, safety and emergency management are also central concerns of Infraserv Höchst. A highlight of the new neighborhood portal is therefore the link to the site operator’s emergency communications. Should a potentially hazardous event occur, a so-called dark page with appropriate safety instructions will be displayed automatically.

Balance and preview

Infraserv is very satisfied with the implementation of ihr-nachbar.de: „The new web presence has a convincing, contemporary design, an improved navigation structure, a suitable implementation for tablet PCs and internet-enabled cell phones“, says Andreas Fuhrmann, head of online relations in the corporate communications department of Infraserv Höchst. „The kick-off project confirmed our expectations and shows that with FirstSpirit we have chosen a CMS, with which we can optimize our internal processes and therefore save time and costs for content maintenance and distribution.“

With the implementation of ihr-nachbar.de, Infraserv Höchst has created the infrastructure for the further roll-out of FirstSpirit and the implementation of the other corporate websites. reality bytes is currently working on relaunching the corporate website infraserv.com and the new site of the group’s subsidiary Infraserv Logistics GmbH under infraserv-logistics.com.
